Post GRILLED ASPARAGUS

Ingredients:

1 to 2 pounds fresh asparagus, bottoms trimmed

Olive oil

Fine Kosher or sea salt.


Grilling Instructions:

1. Place the asparagus spears in a baking dish and drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle with salt.

2. If using charcoal, prepare a medium-hot fire in the grill and then remove the labels and place a can of Flavorwood (apple or pecan) under the grill grate and directly on the coals. If using a propane or natural gas grill, remove the labels and place the can of Flavorwood under the grill grate and directly on the heat source; turn on heat to medium-high and wait until smoke is emitted through the small hole in the top of the Flavorwood can. For best
results, place the Flavorwood can directly under the asparagus spears.

3. Place the asparagus spears perpendicular to the openings in the grill grate and directly over the coals or the heating elements of a gas grill, cover, and grill, turning at least once, for 8 to 10 minutes for thick spears and 6 to 7 minutes for thin ones or until the asparagus is crispy tender and charred slightly.
